She spends her time teaching painting classes, working various outdoor jobs, and ordering books for LFL! Reading is one of her favorite things to do, and she thinks often of the many wonderful books that have changed her life.<br>Emma\u2019s family immigrated to the US from the Netherlands in the 90\u2019s. Libraries for Liberation initially started out as a family project that she and her father, Jurriaan Kalff, came up with after the murder of George Floyd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-normal-font-size\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/sandraphoto5.png?w=360\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-539 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/sandraphoto5.png 360w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/sandraphoto5-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/sandraphoto5-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-normal-font-size\">Sandra Soto is a teacher at heart and believes in the power of education to empower communities and transform society. She loves to build bridges, smash silos, and bring people together. Sandra also loves to learn; she has a bachelor\u2019s degree in Elementary Education from Boston University and a master\u2019s degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, but finds that the youth she has worked with have taught her more than her classes ever have. Sandra hopes to convey to the world the message that King Azaz and the Mathemagician gave her beloved Milo from <em>The Phantom Tollbooth<\/em>: \u201cso many things are possible just as long as you don\u2019t know they\u2019re impossible.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/alisaphoto5-.png?w=360\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-536 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/alisaphoto5-.png 360w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/alisaphoto5--300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/alisaphoto5--150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-normal-font-size\">Alisa De Los Santos has always loved to learn and is <em>that person <\/em>who reads both the assigned and unassigned reading cover to cover. She believes in the power of an author\u2019s voice to leap off the page and demand that the reader change their life and their world. She enjoys organizing people and projects, and simultaneously has been learning about how to control her impulse to manage everything all the time. She has experience with health equity and education through her work at The Family Van, a mobile health clinic with a holistic and relationship-centered approach. In her current role as a birth doula, Margaret sees firsthand the immense and transformative impact that accompaniment and presence can have on individuals, families, and communities. Margaret is a lifelong learner who is interested in the intersections of ecological connection, spirituality, and social change. Her decade-long journaling practice has helped her form a deeper relationship with herself and she encourages others to join her in using a pen and paper as the bridge to greater self-awareness and healing. She agrees with Maya Angelou when the author says, \u201cthere is no greater agony than an untold story inside you\u201d and she enjoys bringing people together to support them in telling their own stories. A high-spirited and enthusiastic person, Nalitza can often be found channeling her buzzing energy into salsa, bachata, and hip hop dance when she\u2019s not reading some new historical fiction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"795\" height=\"834\" src=\"https:\/\/librariesforliberation.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sophia-1.png?w=795\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5002 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sophia-1.png 795w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sophia-1-286x300.png 286w, https:\/\/beavercraft.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sophia-1-768x806.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-normal-font-size\">Sophie feels most inspired and fulfilled when listening to the stories of others. She is honored to carry a piece of each one with her, deepening\u00a0her understanding of the world. This\u00a0passion for storytelling led\u00a0her to earn a BA in Theatre Arts, with additional studies in Political Science, where she discovered how it could serve as a radical tool for change.\u00a0Based in Los Angeles, her curiosity about the intersection of art and social change shapes how she engages with the community, allowing her to experience firsthand the power of a shared purpose through volunteer work.
